After a hiatus of 36 years, Tom Emmert returned to the air in 2001 as host of "Music In The Emmert Manner", a mix of big-band-era and more current music. Tom enjoys vocal groups of all kinds, especially those who perform a ballad with both quality and passion. Period groups such as Pied Pipers and Modernaires appear regularly on his program, with a sprinkling of Singers Unlimited and m-pact and maybe even Rockappella. "They don't write 'em like they used to" complains Tom. "How can you ever top a lyric like 'You intoxicate my soul with your eyes'? To hear an artist like Lena Horne caress these words (from 'You Go To My Head') tugs at your heart -- it's simply beyond description". Tom proffers polysyllabic pontification, and also reminds us of our obligation to use the language correctly by an occasional visit to the Department Of Redundancy Department (which, according to local legend, is situated in Highland Heights, Kentucky.)
