This program is called Your Stardust Serenade and we play musical recordings of the great dance bands of the 1930s and 40s. Your Stardust Serenade is aired each week and the special attraction is a whole hour of a single band. The music is generally classed as sweet, and features ballads. Occasionally we play an up-tempo tune but most of the music is vocal. It is sentimental, about lovers, with lots of emphasis on dreams, the moon, and the stars. The program theme song is Glenn Miller's recording of "Stairway to The Stars" sung by Ray Eberle. Even though the music is sweet, it does not eliminate swinging bands because most of the bands had ballads for dancing in their playbook and they had one or more vocalists. We like to play air checks so you can get the atmosphere of the crowd noise, the remote announcers and the applause. We attempt to make feel you are there. The song titles are announced with some chatter about the musicians, singers and trivia. Generally some history is provided about the band. We like to keep it light and dreamy without getting detailed or gushy. Tune in as we take you on a dreamy trip back in time on your Stairway to the Stars to reach your Stardust Serenade.
