Mary Ellen Tanner

She's entertained millions on The Bob Braun Show on WLWT TV and in Cincinnati at The Celestial and Michael G's. Now, Mary Ellen Tanner brings her love of the Big Band Era and Jazz standards to WMKV. WMKV is proud to have Mary Ellen Tanner hosting her own program Sundays from 1 to 2:00 pm and Fridays from 11:00 pm to 12:00 am. Mary Ellen is excited about her new program. "There's nothing like 'live' broadcasting. It's great to be able to communicate with a lot of people, especially many who don't have an opportunity to get out often." Mary Ellen's program features her favorite artists, including Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and Rosemary Clooney. And we've insisted that she include songs from her own recent CD. Mary Ellen has been singing in front of audiences since the age of three when her "stage father" - that's right, "stage father" - nudged her into the "spotlight", microphone in hand to begin her career. By age 12 she was singing with the Deke Moffitt Big Band. From 1970 - 73 she was a regular on The Nick Clooney Show before taking up the microphone on Bob Braun's Show from 1978-84. And Mary Ellen is no stranger to radio, having co-hosted a program with Rob Reider on WMLX. We congratulate her on her recent CAMMY AWARD for Best Jazz Vocalist from the Cincinnati Enquirer. She also received the "CAMMY" in 1997, 1998 and 1999. We add our special thanks to our volunteer engineers who work behind the scenes to make this exciting new program possible; Tom Emmert, Ken Luther and Clyde Ankenbauer.
