WMKV’s Bill Nimmo Remembered

WMKV has lost a broadcast legend as Bill Nimmo passed away Monday night February 21st, 2011 at the age of 93. Bill will be known as one of the great voices to grace the airwaves in Cincinnati and across the country.

We are proud to say that Bill Nimmo’s last broadcasts were right here on WMKV. In addition to his many announcements over 15 years on WMKV, Bill’s smiling voice and passion can be heard still today on his Two on the Aisle program as well as his collaboration with George Hambrecht and Tom Emmert on WMKV Goes to the Pops. By permission from Bill’s family, you will continue to hear those programs on WMKV as we honor Bill Nimmo.

On behalf of the dozens of engineers, volunteers, and staff whose lives were touched by Bill Nimmo, I have to say that many of us will remember Bill’s professionalism, attention to detail, as well as his glimmering eyes that brightened up whenever he was around a microphone, and that beaming smile that told everyone that he loved what he did, and that the profession he chose gave back to him. WMKV remembers a true broadcast pioneer, Bill Nimmo, who left us after 93 years, but has given, and continues to give, each of us a lifetime of memories. Rest in Peace Bill Nimmo.

Bill Nimmo's weekly program features the best Broadway musical soundtracks sprinkled with Bill's personal memories of the artists that were his friends. Cincinnati Magazine's "Best of Cincinnati" awards honored our "Two On The Aisle hosted by Bill Nimmo" program as "Best Local Radio" in 1997.
